Knockahoma Nation Episode 75

Welcome to another episode of your favorite Braves (ish) podcast. This week the boys recap Kenny’s vacation and talk about the most important things in life – college football, how to tailgate at a Notre Dame game and what makes a good beach bar.

They also talk about Colin Kaepernick. Fun fact – He’s a terrible quarterback. Which might have more to do with the fact that he can’t find a job than his political views.

Oh, the boys also talked about one of the ailments that hurts players’ on-the-field performance – the booty effect.

Knockahoma Nation Episode 74

This week on Knockahoma Nation Josh and Kenny attempt to cover all of most important topics in life. Like Robert Earl Keen and Tiger Woods.

Seriously, tho, this might be their best work. They boys go deep down the rabbit holes and dig up things like Ted Williams, Roberto Clemente and the 1893 Atlanta Windjammers. Did you know Atlanta had a base ball team called the Windjammers and a guy named Bones Ely was on it?

As promised on the podcast, here’s video of Billy Bean’s interview. Watch it and share it with the world. The world needs to see it. THIS is the Daniel Murphy story; the story of two guys from totally different viewpoints coming together and becoming friends because of baseball.

Also as promised, here is The Most Beautiful Baseball Discussion ever published, by Peter Gammons. In 1986, he sat down with a young Don Mattingly and Wade Boggs and the King, Ted Williams. What followed was absolute perfection to read.

Here’s the George Jones song mentioned in the podcast, “Just One More.” This particular recording of the song was on the Tin Cup soundtrack in 1996. (Editors note: In the podcast, Josh says that the song was only on the Tin Cup soundtrack. It was actually first written and recorded by The Possum way back in 1956 and reached No. 3 on the Billboard charts that year. Country stars of George’s caliber often didn’t, and still don’t, write their own material, but George pinned this one.)

Knockahoma Nation Episode 73

This week on Knockahoma Nation war lords Josh and Ken try understanding the difference between fWAR and bWAR. We’re still not sure they quite understand.

They also talk a bit about how the Braves pitching has been. And, somehow, someway, Josh has had a change of heart about Julio Teheran. Josh is convinced the Braves should now keep him. Ken thinks he’s crazy.

Keith Law’s terrible tweets this week about Daniel Murphy aren’t off the table either. The boys go in spikes first at Keith for calling Daniel Murphy a bigot this week on Twitter.

Knockahoma Nation Episode 72

This weekend the podcast gets wild and crazy with two of our favorite buds on Twitter @dank_aaron and @jodecolikessoda. We talk Braves, peaches, Aretha Franklin, and Brian Snitker.

Then Josh and Ken were at Social Media Night with the Braves and had a heck of a time. We talk about it, then we get political and talk censorship of idiots, and then how to deal with drunk girls who want to get handsy. All this and more on this week’s episode of KNOCKAHOMA NATION!

Let’s Get Weird.

Knockahoma Nation Episode 71

This weekend on the podcast, we’re joined by two of our favorite Twitter follows. Our buddy Jeff Donahoo, fighter pilot from Acworth, hops on the line with us and somehow we coerced Cory McCartney, from Fox Sports, graces us with his presence.

You might know Cory from Chopcast Live. He’s also written a couple of books. Cory’s got a college football background, but now he mostly covers the Atlanta Braves. He’s also got great hair.

Josh and Ken also get weird and political, per usual.

Subarus, Suntans, and Starting Pitching

The world famous Braves Options Guy joins Ken on this weekend’s podcast to discuss our favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves

Then, Ken, Josh, and Ken’s wife Cynthia talk about everything from politics, to that time Ken ran into the law down on Panama City Beach.

Let’s get weird.

Knockahoma Nation Episode 69

This week Josh and Ken go hard in the paint at some Braves bloggers. They discuss the political divide of baseball. Why do old school guys hate the analytics crowd? Why is the analytics crowd so rude and condescending to the old school crowd?

They also talk about Trump.

No animals were harmed in the recording of this gluten-free podcast, but we can’t promise about your feelings.

Knockahoma Nation Episode 68

This week Josh is off rubbing elbows with Elon Musk and driving his Tesla around the country, so Ken takes the Allstar Break to take a look back at a few things from the offseason and from last year.

This episode has some of the best moments on the show from the last year and a half and is guaranteed to make you laugh, possibly cry, and be ready to win the World Series. It’s going to be an exciting second half for the Braves and we appreciate you being a part of the community that is Knockahoma Nation!

Enjoy.

Knockahoma Nation Episode 67

This week we’re rejoined by Michael Kelly, and Jonathan Howard joins us for the first time. This could be the best episode yet.

You may know Michael from his role as Doug Stamper on the Netflix show House of Cards. Michael’s a buddy of ours, a woke Knockahoma Nation listener, and a very knowledgeable Braves fan. You’d think a guy as busy as him might not keep up with the details of his favorite sports team, but Michael can wax philosophic about Joey Wentz and Touki Toussaint with the best of them.

If you listen to Knockahoma Nation, you may have heard us talk about Jonathan Howard. Jonathan’s our friend who works for Chick-Fil-A, whom we’ve been trying to hook up with Savannah Dent on Twitter. We had Jonathan on to talk Braves baseball, but also to have Michael give Jonathan some relationship advice.

We also bring back our PATENTED “Make It Matter” segment. On this Make It Matter segment we talk about the most political issue of our time – launch angle.

Enjoy.

Knockahoma Nation Episode 66

This week on Knockahoma Nation Ken explains what a baseball manager does and Josh recaps his interesting trip to ElizaBETHton, Tennessee to see the Danville Braves. Did you know that they don’t serve beer at ElizaBETHton Twins games? It’s true.

Ken also gets philosophical, and talks forever, about his favorite past time, the grandest game of all, baseball.

We hope you enjoy. And don’t forget to subscribe to Knockahoma Nation on iTunes, CastBox or Stitcher.
